So one of the things you’ll probably be looking for is medical attention. Few of us received solid medical treatment and it’s agreed that most units will let you die before shooting you to the hospital.
And in the event that you DO go to the hospital, it’s such a miserable experience that you never wanna go back.
So now you have a few things you need to catch up but you don’t have any health insurance and this is Texas so you probably won’t qualify for medicaid. However, UMC does offer an indigent health care program called the Blue Card program. It’s available to qualifying residents of Lubbock. Here’s what you need to get started:

- Schedule an Appointment with the Blue Card office.

The Blue Card carefully reviews each application and referral; all information is kept confidential. The review determines the appropriate amount of financial aid for that individual or couple, using federal poverty levels as a guide, with extenuating circumstances taken into consideration. Reid filed an official grievance letter with the NFL in May, alleging that team owners and the league colluded to prevent his employment due to his protest activities.
You’re going to want to call the Blue Card office at 806-775-9014. The office is actually called UMC Support Services and it shares the same building as Blue Sky Texas Restaurant on 4th St. When you call you’ll be asked if you want to set up an appointment in about a month from when you call. The operator will tell you what you need, but he probably won’t tell you every caveat you need to know, which brings us to our next step.
2. Gather your Documents.

If you’re not working you’ll need a workforce registration or an official notice from a doctor or government agency saying that you’re unable work . You’ll also need your ID and a Social Security card. If you’re staying with somebody, you’ll need a letter of support from them with their name, signature, address and phone number on it describing your rent situation between you and them. And again, if you’re staying with somebody, you will need to provide their utility bill (assuming that you don’t have a utility bill of your own) to verify residence.
3. Go to your appointment.
Don’t forget your documents! Now you gotta make it to 3204 4th ST, which is the UMC Support Services office across the street from the TTU museum. Yeah it’s in a weird spot. When you step inside and sign in at the front, you’ll be taken to the office and a nice lady who does habla espanol will sit you down and copy your documents and will hopefully give you a card like this.
